Joining Salters Medical Practice
You (or someone on your behalf) will need to attend the surgery, preferably bringing your medical card, although this is not essential.
When you complete the registration documents as a permanent patient we need to see two types of ID; one picture proof of identity and one proof of your address in Droitwich. This is to ensure that practice boundaries are kept to a size to ensure good clinical care to all patients. If however you have difficulty producing these documents please speak to the Receptionist.

Please be aware once you have moved out of area you will not longer be able to stay registered with the practice and will need to register with a practice in your local area.
The GPs do not hold individual lists which means you are able to see whichever doctor you prefer: we appreciate that there are times when you may, for example, wish to see a male or female doctor specifically.

It is helpful if you will come along for a registration check. This is an opportunity to record a brief description of your health and to discuss your health needs. We would normally check on your general health, your blood pressure, height and weight and a urine test at this time.
Temporary Registration
If you are ill whilst away from home, or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one you can receive emergency treatment from the local GP practice for 14 days. After 14 days you will need to register as a temporary or permanent patient.
You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. After three months you will have to re-register as a temporary patient or permanently register with that practice. After six months it is expected that you will become a permanent patient or return to your registered GP.
To register as a temporary patient simply contact the local practice you wish to use. Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.

Private charges may apply to members of Countries that do not have a reciprocal agreement with the NHS in the UK. Please contact the surgery for further information.
Training Practice
Salters is a well established training practice. Doctors who are nearing the end of their training come to experience either 6 or 12 months of General Practice, just before practicing independently. These are experienced doctors who have undergone at least 5 years at medical school, 2 years in a hospital setting developing their basic skills and then at least a further 18 months in training relevant to general practice. They are closely supervised by the partners and trainers, who in turn are trained to undertake this role, the level of supervision being commensurate with the doctors’ previous experience and competence.
Video Consultations
Trainees may ask if they may video their consultations (written consent will be obtained before and after the consultation to ensure that you are happy for this too occur). It is absolutely fine for you to decline right from the outset. The video recordings will be destroyed once they have been reviewed with the trainer. No intimate exams that involve any undressing will be recorded.
Telephone Consultations
Telephone calls to and from the surgery may be recorded for training and monitoring purposes. Please indicate if you are unhappy with this right from the outset of the conversation.
